Who We Are
Profile
The Institute of Science (IOS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) was established in 2004 as a Centre of Excellence dedicated to advancing fundamental and applied research. The Institute was pioneered by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Sazali Hamzah, who served as its first Director.
Since its establishment, IOS has been committed to fostering a dynamic research environment that nurtures excellent, innovative and competent researchers capable of contributing to scientific advancement and competing at the global level.
To strengthen its multidisciplinary research capabilities, IOS currently comprises three strategic research centres: the Centre of Chemical Synthesis & Polymer Technology (CCSPT), the Centre of Functional Materials & Nanotechnology (CFMN), and the Centre of Astrophysics & Applied Radiation (CAAR). This structure promotes greater collaboration among researchers, facilitates knowledge and expertise sharing, and enhances the quality and impact of research conducted within the Institute.
Currently, IOS is led by Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Noor Fitrah Abu Bakar, Director of the Institute of Science, who continues to drive the Institute towards research excellence, innovation, strategic collaboration and greater national and international impact.
